Lust thought she had set a trap for Felix and Crusch. In reality, she’s the one that gets set up.
At the end of episode 9, we are left on a cliffhanger with Lust entering their room. Felix immediately tries to fight Lust but is quickly overwhelmed by her power. When he stabs Lust, she takes on the form of Crusch, making Felix think she wounded her. I find it crazy that Lust can manipulate people by taking on the form of those they care about.
All of a sudden, Crusch gets out of bed…but I thought she was on the brink of death. Turns out, it was Anastasia pretending to be Crusch to hit Lust with a surprise attack. Pretty clever if you ask me. She causes an explosion, sending Lust flying underground. Aldebaran, Priscilla’s knight, is waiting for her, ready for a fight.
The rest of episode 10 of Re:Zero places a heavy focus on the battles between Priscilla versus Wrath and Greed versus Subaru, Emilia, and Reinhard.
Reinhard and Greed (Regulus) continue to face off until Regulus launches Reinhard into a building. Now, Subaru and Emilia need to take over (yikes). Honestly, the range of Emilia’s strength takes me by surprise. Her strength and control over ice is incredibly impressive. She creates a huge glacier that pierces into Greed and sends him plummeting into the water. Immediately after, she freezes the lake over so he has no way to escape.
It’s no surprise that Greed breaks out. Emilia gives him a lecture but it only makes him angrier, sending him into a full-on rage. Regulus turns the water into a giant bubble, and he drops it on Subaru and Emilia. Luckily, they dodge it because the water turns into sharp projectiles that would seriously injure them.
The duo decides the best option is to retreat for now. Emilia creates ice skates for herself and Subaru and turns the lake into ice, making it an ice skating rink. Somehow, they soon find Greed right behind them, casually walking on the ice. In another attempt to take him down, Emilia creates ice swords and strikes him several times, but still, no damage.
Joining the fight once again, Reinhard hits Regulus with his sword, sending him into the sharp projectiles he created. Despite all the attacks sent at Regulus, he comes out unscathed from every single one. The Sin is practically immortal.
Until Subaru finds his weakness. That Greed’s heart doesn’t beat. To confirm his theory, he has Reinhard strike Regulus and he’s right.
Also, Subaru comes to the realization that each Sin Archbishop is named after a star. Greed’s name, Regulus, is the name of a star called the “Little King.” I wonder if their names connect to their powers somehow.
Meanwhile, Priscilla and Liliana come into contact with Wrath. While Liliana has to try to wake the innocent civilians out of Wrath’s spell with her singing, Priscilla takes on Wrath one-on-one.
It seems as if Wrath knows something about Priscilla that we don’t know yet. She emphasizes how Priscilla puts on a tough act to hide her emotions. Wrath says something to Priscilla along the lines of “Iris and the Thorne King” and it clearly triggers her. What does the phrase mean to Priscilla to piss her off so much?
Switching back to Subaru, Regulus gets seriously pissed off when he finds out the truth behind his Authority. When Subaru tells him that he finds out that Greed can stop time in his own body, he looks absolutely horrified. The episode ends there, leaving us on yet another cliffhanger, but at least Subaru’s squad is one step closer to defeating the invincible Greed.
For an anime that’s already known for its wild twists and emotional stakes, this episode cranks the tension up even more. Each fight felt layered with strategy, surprises, and character moments that make Re:Zero such a standout in the anime world.
I’m crazy excited to see where season 3 continues with this arc
This was a killer breakdown — sharp and emotionally tuned in.
“We were offshoring our guilt.”
Oops, wrong post.
But seriously… Re:Zero hits different this season.
You nailed something I hadn’t thought about — the way Lust uses emotional mimicry as a weapon. That’s not just a plot twist. That’s psychological warfare. Feels like the show’s leaning harder into the idea that emotional truth is just as lethal as raw power.
Also — Regulus’ “invincibility” being tied to time-stopped stillness? That’s poetic. Makes you wonder if each Sin Archbishop’s power is a spiritual dysfunction turned into a superpower. Greed isn’t just unstoppable — he’s emotionally frozen.
